Info For Institutions

In order for ASIC to undertake its quality benchmarking for international schools, colleges, universities, training providers and distance education providers, we have identified 8 areas of an institutions operation for inspection. These are listed below.

The eight Areas of Operation are:

  • A – Premises, and Health and Safety
  • B – Governance, Management and Staff Resources
  • C – Learning, Teaching and Research Activity
  • D – Quality Assurance and Enhancement
  • E – Student Welfare
  • F – Awards and Qualifications
  • G – Marketing and Recruitment of Students
  • H – Systems Management and Compliance with Immigration Regulations

The student experience begins when they embark upon their chosen institution’s admissions process. It is important that the institution’s recruitment and admission strategies are effective and ethical to make this process as straightforward as possible. These areas will be under particular scrutiny from our inspectors, including a review of the systems in place for appointing and managing agents, and of the criteria used in analysing a potential student’s application.

We want to encourage all our accredited institutions to become as student-focused as possible in their approach to international education.

Once an institution has been accredited by us, there will be a strategy of ongoing development. This can include training programmes on subjects like quality student recruitment methods that are effective yet ethical; recruiting and reviewing the work done by agents; improving and developing the admissions system; and helping codes of practice and policies to evolve and keep up to date with the changing needs of the students and the institution.

Accredited institutions can use the ASIC logo and ASIC promotional materials for the duration of their accreditation. If an institution has their accreditation withdrawn or chooses to withdraw, they will no longer be able to use the ASIC logo or any associated materials.
